I've written cryptic crosswords for a magazine for about 6 years. My clues will be challenging because you don't have any letters to help you but they're definitely not as tough as those! I can tell you, that 3 or 4 days we worked on that puzzle was some of the most fun of my life. I felt badly that she didn't so I packed up a box full of LOTR stuff I'd collected and had extras of and sent it to her. We each submitted our answers and four winners were chosen by lottery from the correct answers and I won! I got a beautiful set of LOTR books. she was good at making sense of it and making it fit the clue. This puzzle was based in Elvish so it meant a lot of research into Elvish words and word roots and stuff (something neither of us knew much about). But only she and I gave it a try so we worked on our own, off the boards. A friend and I were modding the games board of another Tolkien forum and I suggested we do the puzzle together.
